To stop the Left Eye of Darkness from being obtained, Jeanne seals Cereza, who was given the eye by her mother, in the bottom of a lake. With the Umbra Witches being threatened, one of the witches, Jeanne, sends the rest of the witches after Balder. However, Balder took the opportunity to attack the weakened witches by teaming up with the humans in the fictional European City of Vigrid to begin a series of Witch Hunts. This union also caused a violent war to break out between the two factions, with the Umbra Witches eventually winning. The two uniting resulted in them being exiled from their clans and Cereza being raised by the Umbra Witches as an outcast. By keeping the Eyes of the World separate, the clans believed they would stop destruction from happening. He had a relationship with Rosa, an Umbra Witch, causing a clash between the two factions when they had a child named Cereza. By giving these factions individual power, he also gave them free will.īefore the main story of Bayonetta takes place, we learn that the protector of the Right Eye of Light was a Lumen Sage called Balder. This power becomes known as the Eyes of the World, divided into the Left Eye of Darkness (which is protected by the Umbra Witches), and the Right Eye of Light (which the Lumen Sages are responsible for). The Chaos realm, our world, is ruled by Aesir who splits his power in two and gives this to two factions to preserve. Expect plenty of twists and turns, as the Bayonettas come together, with help from old friends and familiar faces like Jeanne and Rodin, as well as a new witch Viola.īayonetta takes place in a reality where Light, Darkness, and Chaos represent three realms known as the Trinity of Realities. With each Bayonetta facing danger, new powers and Infernal Demons are introduced to put an end to Singularity's plans. In order to stop this, Bayonetta must travel across these fractured realms in order to recover the Chaos Gears, meeting other Bayonettas from various timelines along the way. An entity known as Singularity unleashes the Homunculi throughout the multiverse in an attempt to destroy each world without it. We all know both Jeanne and Balder were holding back in Bayo 1 because they were trying to awaken the eye, not to kill Cereza.The developer, Platinum Games, describe's Bayonetta 3's plot as: "Mysterious life forms appearing to be neither angel nor demon attack amid the ravaged streets of the Shibuya area of Tokyo, where Bayonetta then makes a graceful appearance. Wouldn't Jeanne be way more affected by the extermination of witches than Bayonetta (especially after witnessing a lot of it throughout the centuries)? Bayonetta, on the other hand, had severe trauma because of it. We all know that Jeanne holds a powerful Umbran pride and makes it clear that the clan was very important for her. After living 500 years of misery, loneliness, and sadness, what if Jeanne actually grows a deep grudge towards Bayonetta? Her birth was what led the witch clan to be nearly extinct, and made Jeanne lose her throne and all of the things that meant so much to her.
